[Kyra](https://blog.cooltix.com/en/author/kyra) Oct 26, 2026 --- Discounts can help you reach a sold-out event much sooner, generating better revenue overall. We'll show you how to make the most of this feature. ### Generating discount codes You can start the process within your event by selecting the *Invitation and promotion* menu item, then the *Discount codes* option. Here, click the *New discount code* button to create your first discount. #### **How to add codes** - **Single:** in this caseonly a single code is added. - **CSV:** you can upload a CSV file with the codes that contains only one column and no header. In this case, all the codes in the file are added to the list with the same settings. - **Limit:** if you leave the *How many tickets can the discount be used for?* field empty, the code can be used an unlimited number of times. We don't limit the number of purchases, so the code can be used until the total number of tickets bought with it reaches the specified limit. #### **Other settings** - **Discount amount:** you can choose whether the discount is a percentage or a fixed amount. This rate applies to all tickets purchased with the code. - **Timing:** you can set the time interval during which the code can be used. Codes that have already been added can only be edited one by one. If you do need to edit a large number of codes at once, you can first export them, delete all the unused ones, and then upload the list again. ### Redeeming codes If at least one discount code has been added to an event, a *Do you have a discount code?* label appears on the event page. By clicking it, buyers can simply enter the codes and the discount takes effect immediately. ### Generating a link with a pre-filled discount code You can create an event link that applies the code immediately when the buyer clicks it. For this, use the link format: [https://cooltix.com/event/{eventId}?discount={discountCode}](https://cooltix.com/event/{eventId}?discount={discountCode}) ### Important notes - Discount codes are always event-level, so if you want to use them for more than one event, you need to add them to each one. - Discount codes can contain uppercase letters of the English alphabet and numbers. - Discount codes must be unique within an event. ### Summary In this post, we introduced the ins and outs of our newest feature, so you can now use it with confidence in your ticket sales.
