Why are multiple payment options important? Here’s how we support fast and secure ticket purchasing

The most exciting (and most critical) moment of ticket purchasing is payment. This is the point where the visitor finally clicks the “Buy” button, and the organizer can breathe a sigh of relief: the ticket has been sold. But the way this process unfolds makes all the difference.

Fast? Secure? Flexible? At Cooltix, that’s exactly why we decided to support multiple payment providers, so every partner can find the solution that works best for them.

Two paths, different benefits

1. Cooltix Payment Provider

Our own payment service is the simplest option: it works almost instantly, with no extra setup required. Behind the scenes, we rely on multiple providers, but you won’t notice a thing, everything runs smoothly and seamlessly. This option is especially attractive for smaller events, as it keeps costs low. The only minor drawback is that organizers receive their revenue only after the event ends.

2. Organizer’s Own Payment Provider

If you’d rather have the money transferred to your account as quickly as possible, this is the right path. With this setup, the revenue appears just a few days after payment. The trade-off is that you need to sign a direct contract with the chosen provider, which can sometimes take longer and may involve less favorable fees for smaller events. Still, many organizers find it worthwhile for the faster payout.

Why is it great to support multiple providers?

The answer is simple: because no two organizers are the same. Some value speed above all else, others want the simplest setup possible, and many prefer a balance between the two. The Cooltix system is designed to adapt easily to any of these needs.

Under the hood, everything runs through a single, unified payment interface. We connect the different providers’ APIs to this interface, so the logic always stays the same. For you, it all comes down to one thing: “it works, it’s done, no hassle.”.

When payment slows down…

You may have experienced this yourself: you pay, you’re redirected back to the merchant’s page, but the confirmation email doesn’t arrive. “So… did I actually buy the ticket or not?” - a perfectly reasonable question.

Here’s what happens behind the scenes: after redirecting you back, the payment provider also sends an official notification to our server. This message confirms that the transaction was successfully completed. Until we receive this signal, we cannot mark the payment as successful.

And what if the provider is experiencing a slowdown? In that case, the two signals (the redirect and the server notification) may be a little further apart. That’s when you might need to wait a bit longer for the confirmation email. But here’s the good news: your money is always safe, and the confirmation will always arrive in the end.

Summary

Supporting multiple payment providers isn’t just a fancy extra - it’s a deliberate choice to meet the different needs of organizers. This way, every organizer can find the most convenient and reliable solution for them. And we make sure the ticket buyer’s experience stays smooth and secure - even if, every now and then, it takes a little longer for the “Purchase Successful” email to show up.
