Ticket sales without headache: how to avoid common mistakes

The quality of your online ticket sales can define your competitive edge, so it’s worth minimizing mistakes. Here are the most common ones to watch out for!

As organizers, we all experience how the quality of online ticket sales can define a competitive advantage. That’s why it’s worth minimizing errors, and we’re here to help you do just that. Here are the most common mistakes and how to avoid them!

Don’t forget to settle your invoicing software fees

One of the most frequent issues is that organizers are unable to generate invoices. This usually happens because the fees for using Billingo or Számlázz.hu haven’t been paid, temporarily disabling invoicing features. Fortunately, this small mistake can be quickly fixed and everything can continue as normal—but prevention is key.

Make sure you set ticket validity correctly

If the system shows an error at entry saying “Ticket not yet valid,” the start time for ticket validity wasn’t set properly.

By default, tickets become valid when the event starts. So if you set a start time of 8:00 p.m., entry is only possible from 8:00 p.m. onwards. If you want to start letting people in earlier, you need to adjust the start time for ticket validity.

For example, if a movie starts at 6:00 p.m., it’s a good idea to open entry earlier, so you might set the validity start time to 5:45 p.m.

Don’t forget to fill in the missing details

Starting in July, we began using Stripe, one of the world’s leading payment platforms. This allows us to process payouts worldwide, opening the door to higher-than-average revenues.

A major step in this transition was introducing automatic payouts, meaning that after the event ends and all funds are received, we immediately start sending your earnings. To enable this, we made some changes in the admin interface and required additional company information.

It’s important to note that we can only initiate automatic payouts once these details are provided, so filling in the missing information is essential. If you are a newly registered partner, this doesn’t affect you, as the system will guide you through the new process, which already includes all necessary information-gathering steps.

Use the data to connect with your buyers

Make the most of the available database: the admin panel shows real-time updates on event performance, revenue, and entry status. You can also export and use buyer data at any stage of the sales process.

This means you can easily access customer email addresses to reach out to them directly. In addition, the data can be used for hundreds of integrations through Segment, supporting activities like email marketing and sales processes.

Check if your event is published

Many organizers are unsure whether their event is visible to the public. The easiest way to confirm this is by looking at the “Live” indicator in the top right corner of the admin panel. If you see it, your event is public.😊

When creating events, publishing is done using the “Publish event” button in the top right corner of the admin panel. However, this step is often overlooked. Be sure to complete it so there’s no confusion later.
